James N. Clevenger
Jim has a breadth of legal experience, including civil trial practice, corporate, probate, administrative law, and criminal defense. One area of focus in Jim’s practice is representing local governments. He represents a number of towns, conservancy districts, schools, and other municipal entities throughout Northern Indiana. Most notable, Jim has served as the Marshall County attorney for the past 20 years. Jim’s reputation for integrity and fair dealing is widely known throughout the legal and business communities. With that in mind, Indiana Governor Joe Kernan appointed Jim to the State Ethics Commission in 2004. The commission’s function is to implement the State’s ethics and conflict of interest laws in order to assure that State government, and its employees, are honest, fair, and beyond reproach. Jim has since been reappointed to the commission by Governors Mitch Daniels, Mike Pence, and Eric Holcomb where he served as Chairman.
Jim lives in Plymouth with his wife, Suzie, a retired educator. Jim gives his time to several community groups and enjoys spending time with his grandchildren. He’s an avid golfer and has explored the sport’s ancient heritage and culture on a number of trips to the British Isles.
